Server Move Complete

· [website]

As prior visitors have likely noticed: the server move has completed.

The site is now entirely static - all PHP has been removed. The server cost has reduced by 50% and is much faster. It also uses Linux, as opposed to Windows; Windows was a total nightmare to deal with, especially when it kept filling up the C:\ drive with utter crap which then killed the entire server.

And don’t get me started on using free SSL tools in Windows.

Anyway. Glad that’s all gone.

I’m now using Hugo, the static site generator. As mentioned, there is no trace of any dynamic guff ‘round these parts. A tiny Linux box that’s been optimised for pure speed, bae.

As for the visual styling of the site? CRT, obviously, but I’ve based it off of an effect I’ve added to one of my new apps - but toned down quite a lot. If you can believe that. Unsure whether I should have gone for a monochromatic amber, though?

There’s more tweaking to do, such as making the pulse that slowly moves down the page actually interact and modify the visual elements it passes over; I don’t think an actual CRT would just passively move in the background without affecting anything in front. Not sure, but kinda sure. That’s sure enough, for me.

I’ve been working on a ton of software lately, but I’ll go into detail in a later post. For now, you can bib on the software link above if you’d like a cheeky wee gander.

Love you. ❤️

Say it back.
